Nuclear energy is energy that can be released from the nucleus of an atom during nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is when the atom splits apart. Nuclear energy comes from uranium. The uranium atom splits and that causes fission. Fission makes heat which produces steam which is used by a turbine generator and that generates electricity.
